James Genuario, M.D.
Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon & Sports Medicine Specialist

Dr. Genuario, a native of Colorado, began his love of sports medicine while participating in athletics at the great University of Notre Dame. There he earned a BS in biology and a minor in Anthropology, but most importantly met the love of his life, Kristy. Together, they journeyed to Chicago where he secured a medical doctorate while graduating AOA from Northwestern University. They continued their travels east to Dartmouth College to pursue an orthopedic surgery residency. While at Dartmouth, both his degrees and his family expanded as he earned a master's degree focusing on health policy while spending a year involved in the prestigious American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery's Health Policy Fellowship. Dr. Genuario and his family of five returned to Colorado to complete his orthopedic training with a fellowship in sports medicine at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic Denver. During this year, he served as a physician for both the Colorado Rockies and the Denver Broncos Football Club. Currently, Dr. Genuario serves as a Team Physician for the Colorado Rockies, Denver Nuggets, and the Colorado Rapids as well as a consultant for the Colorado Ballet. He is an associate editor for the American Journal of Sports Medicine, a reviewer for Orthopedic Journal of Sports Medicine, and lectures both nationally and internationally on sports medicine. His areas of expertise include hip preservation surgery, athletic injuries around the hip, minimally invasive shoulder and knee arthroscopy, and the cutting-edge science of platelet rich plasma and biologic therapy including stem cell treatment. As an active researcher, Dr. Genuario has contributed to the advancement of orthopedics with publications of numerous articles, abstracts and book chapters. He has a particular interest in the establishment of cost-effective patient care. Dr. Genuario hopes he can take care of you as if you are family.
